Setting up the gradebook to properly calculate the final grade can get complicated. This page shows how to use T, W, and E term grades to calculate a final grade with category weighting, and with total points. There are ways to mix the two methods, but this article does not go into that level of detail.
We recommended to periodically calculating one of your student's final grades during the term to make sure it is working as you expect.

For those who use category weighting (ie homework 20%, quizzes 20%, tests 40%, exam 20%), you can ignore the E1 and W1 final
grades and apply your term calculation setup to T1 only. Your T1 setup should look similar to this:
For those who use a total points calculation, in order to guarantee your exam is worth a specific percent, you must use the Term
Weights option to calculate the T1 grade. The W1 and E1 term grades are available for this purpose. By default, W1 calculates total
points for all assignments with a due date prior to the last two days of the term. E1 calculates total points for all assignments with a
due date of the last two days of the term (this should be the exam only).
